Open Source are always a good option for the company to go far.Here in chennai recently Chennai Corporation opts for Open Office (Check this article on Hindu (http://www.hindu.com/2007/07/17/stories/2007071751210200.htm).So it is an easy option for the company to go for open office and linux operating system instead of spending much on the other OS and Word processors.
Not only openoffice even ZOHO an equal competitor with google docs,has many features on their cap.Apart from online word processor,spreadsheets.They have Project manangement software,Online Presentation Tool etc (Check more about ZOHO @ http://www.zoho.com/) .
Is adapting the open source in a huge way create a Competition with their peers.
