another thought: Making art commercially viable without a publisher is hard. Its seems that many artists are caught in a grey zone and need a home. Artists need a place to build their artistic resource and find support for what they do.

The idea of linking people/artists together through a "free culture press kit system" might be a good mission. The "press kit" could be linked to free culture spaces/ conferences/ events. Maybe the icommons profile could be changed from "profiles" to "press kits". By creating a profile are we not creating a press kit. Could people not create an idea and then people within the community not demand that these people come and talk/sing/paint/dj about this near them ? could this create a better conference environment ? the 2 sites that I'm sourcing ideas from are http://www.sonicbids.com and also http://www.eventful.com .
