Bruno Magrani

I am a project lead for the Cultura Livre (www.culturalivre.org.br) project at the Center for Technology and Society at FGV Law School in Rio de Janeiro. I earned my LL.B. from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and I am pursuing the Masters degree in intelectual property at the Instituto Nacional da Propriedade Intelectual. I have worked for Fundação Roberto Marinho, the largest Cultural Foundation in Brazil, and Globopar, one of the major TV channels in Brazil. I have also actively participated in Creative Commons in Brazil since its beginning. My recent research aims to investigate new intelectual property models that incentivates creativity at the same time that allows a broader access to culture and knowledge in a development context. In this sense, I have been very attentive of cases arrising in developing countries such as the Tecnobrega scene in Brazil and the Nigeria movie industry.
