The idea of linking people/artists together through a "free culture press kit system" might be a good mission. The "press kit" could be linked to free culture spaces/ conferences/ events. Maybe the icommons profile could be changed from "profiles" to "press kits". By creating a profile are we not creating a press kit. Could people not create an idea and then people within the community not demand that these people come and talk/sing/paint/dj about this near them ? could this create a better conference environment for icommons ? the 2 sites that I'm sourcing ideas from are http://www.sonicbids.com and also http://www.eventful.com . Terri Anderson from Artists Meeting Point AMP asked me to create a profile within the Icommons site as a member of AMP. http://www.icommons.org/profiles/amp I somehow feel that the Artist Meeting Point mission and the Icommons site have some similar objectives. please visit this link for more info on the artist meeting point AMP http://www.pluginamp.com/network/node/3348
Could Icommons not create some kind of Artists Meeting Point that has a press kit ? AMP/ CC parties & could be part of the Icommons site.
Another thing that might help. I noticed that in the corner of the Icommons site is a blog link, what about making it so that all the blogs/ notes that have been creteaed within the nodes are listed here. You may want them to go through some kind of approval process, yet its something that could get more people into the nodes. Jamison · 23/8/2007 01:17 |

I wondered if the idea of Unconfernces is dealing with any type of digital demand idea. Maybe prior to an event the people that are going to an event could look at the ideas via the net and make demands for concepts/ideas that they want to see/be a part of. When you register to attend, part of your registration might be to choose 10 things you want to see at the conference. Anyone going to conference could post an idea/concept to the site and those attending would look through.
I posted this on the scrap book for Unconfrences http://icommons.org/scrapbook/a-community-authored-book-on-unconferences Jamison · 23/8/2007 02:40 |

Possible Improvements.
when I post more than one idea into the scrap book that the oldest idea stays at the top.
*would it be better for the newest entry to be at the top ?
I also noticed that when I go into blogs for nodes that I am not able to write a blog from that part of the site.
This happens when I enter from within my own profile.
*would it be better to be able to write a blog for the node from this point and maybe edit the node from this part of the site ?
When people enter the node section, it might help out to have an explanation link. Something like "what is a node ?" maybe
I also don't understand why people are not able to vote for an article or node, when its not in the editing queue. Could the vote and editing queue not be made into one ?
I would like to see an Artist Meeting Point within the iCommons site AMP. Jamison · 23/8/2007 03:29 |

*It would make a difference to a project if I could send out a message to people that are involved in the node. example: -for the node "explain CC licenses and their effects on artists" I have 12 people involved in this node. at the moment to contact them I have to go into each profile and send them messages. It would be maybe better if the node admin person could copy text into an update section, then the person could click on weather they wanted to receive an email with the update when the node admin entered some information. in the node update section.
Problems with being able to join Icommons. 3 people in the last 2 days that i am aware of tried to join icommons, 2 people from http://www.cultureload.net tried to join yet were not able to. The email simply did not arrive that the icommons site said they sent. When they tried to log in, it says. "This user account has been deactivated". when they try to rejoin the site it says that they have already joined. Prior to that when people joined the email arrived in the trash box. All these people checked their trash box when they joined. It might be an idea if possibly to check all the emails that have joined in the last weeks and send them links again.
Also this article http://www.icommons.org/articles/myspace-collection-societies did not get enough votes, so it should be in the unpublished section of site. It says that the article was published within the profile, yet its not listed as a published article within the icommons site. I also noticed that quite a few articles have got less than 10 combined votes are published. If your going to have a 10 votes needed to be published, then make the rule stick. so best go and vote for those articles now. It may also create problems within the voting system having last contributions voted for within your system. Especially when people publish articles that don't fit with the way Icommons site.
The people that joined "explain CC licenses and their effect on artists" are still not within the node. This profile joined all the nodes I created, yet it does not show up within the profile. http://www.icommons.org/profiles/amp Jamison · 14/9/2007 19:12 |

Suggestion: It may also create problems within the voting system having last contributions voted for able to be seen within each persons profile. Especially when people publish articles that might be slightly critical of icommons. I would suggest having a button that alows people to mark this as a favorite at the end of article, the fav button could also be a vote button as well. This is possibly better as people may think the article is important enough to vote for, yet to mark as a favorite sets it apart from other articles they voted for. this might make it easier to construct newsletters.
