SA needs web savvy
ask 20 average educated urban South Africans what's a wiki - and you'll get at least 15 different answers. Bravo to training our country to embrace web 2.0 or whatever we call it!

being clear kills fear
co.creating knowledge and interpreting shared reality opens REAL communication in a country that desperately needs to think for itself.
Wikipedia has proven that healthy active dispute can be creative.. it doesn't have to always end in intractable division and impotent rage.
People getting learning in their OWN language makes all the difference to reducing the stress around education.
The less stressed/frustrated people in South Africa could only be a good thing too :-D

rocking!
This is going to be an awesome event - spreading the news about how Wikipedia can change the daily lives of South Africans is truly inspiring. Our culture of story telling lives on in the digital world, thanks to Wikipedia!

I was there at the SA Wikipedia Academy!
I was present at the first Wikipedia Academy which saw an exciting array of folk get together with students at CIDA City Campus, roll up their sleeves and get stuck in to teaching students how to edit and contribute to Wikipedia in their home languages. Included in the 'star-studded' cast were Jimmy Wales, Frank Schulenberg (from Wikia Germany), Ndesanjo Macha (the father of Swahili wikipedia), Ian Gilfillan (who ran the Wikia 2008 bid for South Africa) and Laurens Cloete (one of the active Afrikaans Wikipedians).

It was an enriching experience :)
